This is one of those photos that remind you that the best moments can’t be planned; they come unannounced, silently. I remember rushing to see the Elisabeth Tower against the backdrop of the setting sun, but that day the sun set in an English style, and the rain instead gifted me with an image that’s burned into my eyelids like a hard drive…because life doesn’t always go as planned, but sometimes it goes better :))
And the Elisabeth Tower? The sight of it always makes my jaw drop in delight 🙂
Sometimes I feel like some buildings are like people…and the shape of Westminster is breathtaking…the architects who designed its reconstruction in the 19th century, Augustus Pugin and Charles Barry, must have had some serious balls to create such a bombshell. Looking from a distance, one sees a structure firmly planted in the ground, standing firmly on its foundations, but with its head in the clouds, boldly reaching „wherever the eye can see,” though still aware of its here and now, yet still taking off for the sky.
And in all of this, Elizabeth Tower with Big Ben… is simply a rocket, a true jewel in the crown.
Sometimes it’s worth trusting in life 😉
